NA/66 Comparability of the sector General Government in the National Accounts, a case study for the Netherlands and Germany

Streppel, Irene and Dick Van Tongeren (1994).This paper questions the international comparability of data concerning the sector General Government in the National Accounts. Two differences are distinguished: differences due to lack of compliance with international guidelines and institutional differences. Adjustments to National Accounts data are reflected in a separate module that compares Germany versus The Netherlands. The module shows that total General Government resources as well as uses are substantially higher in the Netherlands.
