Migration of the four largest cities in the Netherlands

Mila van HuisPaper presented at the European Population Conference in the Hague, the Netherlands, 30 August - 3 September 1999.Abstract: The proportion of people who move to, from or within large cities in the Netherlands is much bigger than the corresponding figure for other municipalities. In 1997 a total number of 153 removals per thousand of the inhabitants took place in the four largest cities in the Netherlands. This is considerably higher than the corresponding mobility for the Netherlands as a whole (111). Big city mobility concerns mostly migration within the cities.
