List with definitions of the concepts used by CBS in their statistics. Using the same definitions throughout makes comparison of figures easier.

List of definitions

Imprisonment for life, or for a period not exceeding thirty years, usually spent in prison.

A position occupied by an employed person.

Explanation
An employed person may have more than one job at a time. In that case the person has a main job and a secondary job.

A job is an explicit or implicit employment contract between a person and an economic unit which specifies that labour will be carried out in return for (financial) remuneration.

Explanation
A distinction is made between jobs of employees and jobs of self-employed persons.

Joining one criminal case without charges with another case by the public prosecutor so that the judge can take the two cases into consideration in determining the sentence.
