Inflation drops to 1.1 percent in February
Inflation in the Netherlands fell to 1.1 percent in February. This is 0.2 of a percent point down on January. In that month consumer prices were 1.3 percent higher than twelve months previously.
Household consumption up in December
In December 2005, household spending on goods and services was 0.9 percent up on December 2004. Spending on durable items improved significantly.
Consumer confidence index remains stable
February’s consumer confidence index hardly changed compared to January. Consumers’ opinions on the economic climate and willingness to buy also remained stable in the first two months of 2006.
Manufacturers increasingly optimistic
Producers’ confidence in the manufacturing industry rose to 4.6 in February 2006. This is the highest level since the end of 2000.
Dutch economy grows 0.9 percent in 2005
Dutch economic growth at 0.9 percent in 2005. This is nearly half the growth of 1.7 percent in 2004, but well above the zero increase in 2002-2003.

The inflation rate in the Netherlands was 1.3 percent in January 2006. This is a sharp drop from December, when prices were 2.0 percent up on twelve months previously.
