Physical, psychological or sexual abuse or the threat thereof by someone in the victim's domestic circle (definition article 1 Wmo 2015). Domestic circle refers to (ex-)partners, family members, housemates, informal caregivers and house friends. The word domestic does not refer to the location of the abuse (which can be both in and out of home), but to the relation between offender and victim. Domestic violence can take the form of (ex-)partner violence, child abuse, senior abuse or parent abuse.
