Statistics Netherlands (CBS) reports that the volume of investments in tangible fixed assets was 0.2 percent down in December 2017 relative to the same month one year previously. In the preceding month, the volume was up by almost 11 percent. The volume of investments was down in December due to lower investments in passenger cars. However, investments in residential property and machinery were up again.

Investment data have not been adjusted for calendar effects. December 2017 has two working days less than December 2016. According to the CBS Investment Radar, the investment climate in the Netherlands in February is as favourable as in December.

Investment climate equally favourable in February

Every month, CBS publishes updates on the investment climate in the CBS Investment Radar. Circumstances relevant for investments are, on the one hand, the situation on the sales markets, and on the other hand, the availability of financial means. Although the Radar indicators show a strong correlation with investments in fixed assets, improved circumstances are not necessarily translated into increased growth in investments.

According to the  CBS Investment Radar, the investment climate in the Netherlands is equally favourable in February as in December.

The figures in this publication are provisional and can be adjusted.
