Inflation in the Netherlands rose to 2.9 percent in October. This is the highest rate of inflation in the last four years.
Retail turnover up slightly
Figures show that retail turnover was nearly 1 percent higher in August 2012 than in the same month last year. Prices rose by 1.9 percent, while the volume of sales fell by 1 percent.

Retail turnover up 3 percent
The Dutch retail sector realised 3.1 percent more turnover in April this year than in the same month last year. Prices rose by 2 percent. The volume of sales grew by just over 1 percent.
Lowest inflation rate since 1987
The Dutch inflation rate was 0.2 percent in July 2009, the lowest since December 1987. In June, inflation was still 1.4 percent.
Retail turnover remains stable
Retail turnover in September 2012 was approximately the same as in September 2011. Retail prices were nearly 2 percent higher. The volume of retail sales was down by 2 percent.
Construction sector hit hard by recession in 2012
The construction sector suffered most from the economic recession in 2012. Output fell by more than 8 percent, turnover by 7 percent.

The Dutch inflation rate climbed to 3.1 percent in July, the highest level in nearly half a decade. June’s inflation rate stood at 2.9 percent.
Half as many asylum seekers in May as one year ago
In May 2016, 1,420 asylum seekers were registered, slightly more than in April but less than in May last year.
