Statistics Netherlands (CBS) reports that the volume of investments in tangible fixed assets was 0.3 percent down in June 2017 relative to the same month last year. This is because investments in airplanes were considerably higher in June 2016 compared to this year. However, investments in residential property and passenger cars increased. Investments in lorries, delivery vans and machinery were also higher.

Investment data have not been adjusted for calendar effects. June 2017 had one working day less than June 2016. According to the CBS Investment Radar, the investment climate in the Netherlands is more favourable in August than in June.

Investment climate more favourable in August

According to the CBS Investment Radar, the investment climate in the Netherlands improved in August compared to June, mainly because the growth of exports on a yearly basis was considerably more substantial. In addition, the industrial capacity utilisation rate increased to the highest level since 2008. On the other hand, the year-on year development of Dutch share prices was slightly less favourable in the radar of August. The investment climate is affected by various factors, including the situation on the global and financial markets.
