Inflation rate in March 1.0 percent
In March 2006, the Dutch inflation rate was 1.0 percent. This is 0.1 percent point lower than in February. Then consumer prices were 1.1 percent higher than the year before.
More jobs in fourth quarter 2005
There were slightly more jobs in the fourth quarter of 2005 than in the third quarter. After corrections for seasonal effects the number of employee jobs rose by 9 thousand.

The growth rate of the Dutch economy in 2005 reached 1.1 percent. This is lower than the 1.7 percent growth rate in 2004, but well above the figures for the years 2002-2003.
Consumers are buying more durable goods
In January 2006 households spent 1.5 percent more on goods and services than in January 2005.
Continued optimism in manufacturing industry
Producers’ confidence in the manufacturing industry has risen to 5.9 in March 2006. This is the highest level for five years.
Consumers more positive
Dutch consumer confidence was up in March 2006 in comparison to February. Consumers were considerably more positive about the economic climate.
