A temporary guardianship is imposed when the parent(s) with parental authority are temporarily unable to exercise this authority. For instance, when they are under age, are staying abroad for a prolonged period of time or when a parent is placed under guardianship and the other parent cannot exercise parental authority. The temporary guardianship lasts until the court has reimposed parental authority at the request of the parent(s).
