Nearly 150 thousand couples working with the same employer
On 14 February 2012, 296 thousand employees were working in the same company as their partners, so 148 thousand couples had the same employer, i.e. 4 percent of all employees in the Netherlands.
Many couples employed in sectors agriculture and financial services
Proportionally, most dual-career couples working in the same company are found in the sectors agriculture and financial services. Within these sectors, more than 6 percent of employees had a partner working in the same company. The proportion of couples working in the same company is lowest in the sectors power supply and mineral extraction; only 2 percent of employees consisted of couples.
More years of service, higher chance
The chance for couples to work with the same employer is affected by various factors, such as the number of staff, the composition of the workforce, i.e. male versus female employees, average age and the amount of temporary employment contracts. The chance for an employee to work in the same company as their partner is higher, if they have more years of service with that employer.
