524 bankruptcies filed in February

In February, 524 businesses and institutions (excluding one-man businesses) in the Netherlands were declared bankrupt, nearly 40 more than in January.

As the number of businesses declared bankrupt in a particular month is closely related to the number of days courts are in session, it may vary considerably from month to month. Therefore, the three-monthly moving average is a more reliable indicator.

The three-monthly moving average was 479 in February versus 497 in January 2011.

The figures published in this update have been adjusted from those published on 9 March 2011. The revision is based on new and more detailed information.
