Slight growth for retail trade
Turnover for Dutch retailers was 1.3 percent up in August 2008 on twelve months previously. Prices rose by 2.5 percent, while the volume of sales was just over 1 percent smaller.
Consumer confidence stable
For the second month running, consumer confidence remained unchanged. The indicator stood at -24 in July 2009. This means pessimists still clearly outnumbered optimists in the Netherlands.

Unemployment continues to rise
An average of 394 thousand people were unemployed in the period July-September 2009, i.e. 5.0 percent of the labour force, as against 3.7 percent one year ago.

Dutch inflation rate stable at 2.3 percent
With 2.3 percent, June’s inflation rate was the same as in May. According to the most recent figures, the rate has risen from 0.8 percent in June 2010 to 2.3 percent in June 2011.
Consumption continues to grow fast
In October 2007 households spent 2.8 percent more on goods and services than in October 2006.
Inflation further up
Inflation was 0.7 percent in October 2009. In September, consumer prices were 0.4 percent higher than one year previously.
