International Standard Classification of Education (ISCED)

An international multi-dimensional classification of education of UNESCO recommended by the United Nations. It divides education into the characteristics of level and sequencing of the program, preparation to the next level of education or to the job market, contents (general/vocational), cumulative length of a programme in fulltime equivalents, the aspect of on the job training, the ranking in the hierarchy of national exams in higher education and the field of study.
