Manufacturing output prices nearly 7 percent higher in August
Statistics Netherlands (CBS) reports that output prices for products manufactured in the Netherlands were 6.8 percent higher in August 2026, year on year. In July the price increase was 5.1 percent. Oil prices in August were 31 percent higher than a year earlier.

Larger year-on-year increase in price of crude oil
Output prices generally track the price of crude oil. In August 2026, a barrel of crude oil cost nearly 76 euros, representing a rise of 31 percent year on year. In July 2026, the average price of a barrel of North Sea Brent crude stood at over 73 euros, up by almost 24 percent, year on year. The rise in oil prices since March is due to the geopolitical situation in the Middle East.
Prices for petroleum derivatives were up by 59.7 percent in August year on year, compared to 43.2 percent in July. Output prices in the chemical sector also tend to track the price of crude oil (although there is often a lag). In August 2026, output prices for chemical products were 14.1 percent higher than they were in July 2025. In July, they were up by 12.2 percent, year on year.

Manufacturing output prices higher in August than in July
Output prices rose by 1.1 percent in August compared to July. On the export markets they were up by 1.3 percent, and on the domestic market they were up by 0.8 percent.
