Turnover in accommodation services decreased by nearly 1 percent
In Q2 2026, turnover among accommodation providers, which includes hotels and holiday parks, decreased by 0.9 percent, year on year. This is because hotel turnover was down by 2.0 percent on Q2 2025. Holiday rentals and camp sites recorded an increase of 1.5 percent.
The drop in hotel turnover may be linked to the increase in the VAT rate on accommodation. Since January 2026, the VAT rate on hotel stays and holiday homes has been raised from 9 percent to 21 percent. The VAT increase does not apply to campsites.
Turnover in food and beverage outlets 3.5 percent higher
The turnover of food and beverage outlets increased by 3.5 percent compared with Q2 2025.
Canteens and catering services recorded the largest increase in turnover, at 4.1 percent. Fast-food outlets saw their turnover grow by 3.9 percent. For both restaurants and cafés, turnover was up by 3.2 percent on Q2 2025.
