Adjusted output down on May
A more accurate picture of short-term changes in output is obtained when the figures are adjusted for seasonal effects and the working-day pattern. After these adjustments, manufacturing output fell by 1.3 percent in June relative to May.
After adjusting for seasonal and working-day effects, manufacturing output often fluctuates significantly. In the spring of 2020, output declined rapidly, reaching a low point in May 2020. This was followed by an upward trend until May 2022, after which the trend reversed. Despite the decline in June, an upward trend appears to be emerging for 2026.
