Manufacturing output prices almost 21 percent up in November

Statistics Netherlands (CBS) reports that prices of Dutch-manufactured products were on average 20.9 percent up in November 2021 year-on-year. In the previous month, prices were 20.5 percent up.

Soaring crude oil prices

Output prices are strongly affected by crude oil price developments. In November, the price of a barrel of crude North Sea Brent oil was almost 71 euros on average, over 90 percent higher than in the same month last year.

In October 2021, the crude oil barrel price stood at approximately 72 euros, more than double the amount in October 2020.

In November, prices of petroleum derivatives were up by 92.7 percent year-on-year. In October, they were up by 102.5 percent. In the chemical industry as well, output prices are generally linked to crude oil price developments. Output prices of chemical products were 45.6 percent higher in November than in the same month last year. In October, prices increased by 41.3 percent year-on-year.

Prices in all of the manufacturing industries were higher in November 2021 than in the same month last year.

Prices of manufactured products increased in November

Manufacturing output prices rose by 0,7 percent in November relative to October. They increased by 1.2 percent on the domestic market and by 0.4 percent on the export market.
