How expenditure is paid

Health care expenditure not only includes the expenditure paid from health insurance contributions, but also those expenses paid directly by central government; paid from contributions under the Long-term Care Act (and similar insurances abroad); from private insurances such as the supplementary health insurance in the Netherlands; paid by the private sector (mainly under the Working Conditions Act); and paid directly by the users to health care providers - whether or not as part of the compulsory or voluntary excess.
