ESF issues grants to increase employment opportunities in EU member states. The current programme assists the Netherlands with a total amount of 507 million euros in financial support for the period 2014-2020. The bulk of this amount is used to counter youth unemployment and to support people who are distanced from the labour market, including those with occupational disabilities, unemployed people over 50, people without an income from employment or social benefits and detainees. Also part of the target group are (ex-)students from secondary special education and practical education (VSO-PrO) schools.
