Residential property prices more than 4 percent down from one year previously

Prices of existing owner-occupied dwellings were on average 4.4 percent lower in August 2013 than in August 2012. The price drop is less substantial than in the preceding month, when house prices fell by 5.0 percent. The index – a joint publication by Statistics Netherlands and the Land Registry Office – reflects price changes of existing owner-occupied dwellings in the Netherlands.

Prices of existing owner-occupied dwellings were at the same level in August 2013 as in early 2003.They were 20.0 percent below the record level registered in August 2008.

In the first eight months of this year, a total of 64,837 house sales were registered, i.e. 12.9 percent below the level of the first eight months of 2012.
