Unemployment unchanged

Seasonally adjusted unemployment in the Netherlands stood at 455 thousand in November 2011, i.e. the same number as in October. In the four preceding months, unemployment had risen considerably.

Unemployment remained stable among both men and women. In the age categories 25-44 and 45-64, unemployment rose slightly. On the other hand, youth unemployment (people under 25) fell.

The unemployment rate in the Dutch labour force was 5.8 percent in November. This was the same peak rate as in February 2010. Youth unemployment was lower and the unemployment rate in the age categories 25-44 and 45-64 higher than at that time.
