Statistics Netherlands reduces administrative burden further

The administrative burden caused by Statistics Netherlands’ surveys was 7 percent smaller in 2009 than in 2008.

The net administrative burden in 2009 fell by 1.5 million euro to 19.8 million. This is less than 0.2 percent of the total administrative caused by the government.

Statistics Netherlands is working towards reducing the administrative burden even further. Among other things, it uses data that have already been collected for other purposes, increasingly uses on-line questionnaires, and develops and applies advanced sampling methods. Statistics Netherlands has also started a project to examine alternative data collection and survey strategies.
