Manufacturing turnover still low

Manufacturing turnover decreased by 25 percent in June relative to one year previously. The decrease is in the same order of magnitude as in the first five months of 2009. More than half of June’s turnover decline was due to lower selling prices.

Turnover declined across the board in June. With a turnover loss of 37 percent, manufacturing of petroleum, chemical, rubber and plastic products was hit hardest. In this sector, factory gate prices have plummeted compared to one year previously. In the (basic) metal industry and the transport equipment sector, turnover decreased above average. With 9 percent, turnover loss was smallest in the sector in food, drinks and tobacco.

The turnover slump on the export market was about the same as on the domestic market.
