Sharp increase in young disabled
In December last year, 167 thousand young disabled received labour disablement benefits under the Disablement Provision Act for Disabled from an Early Age (Wajong), as against 155 thousand one year previously.
Last year, 15 thousand new Wajong benefit recipients were registered, considerably more than in the preceding years. The outflow shows a downward trend. In 2006, the inflow was also higher than in previous years. With nearly 4 thousand, the outflow then reached its lowest level since the introduction of the Wajong in 1998.
