Reuse (incl. use as fuel)

Since 2004 the use of waste as fuel with energy recovery is part of the processing method of reuse. Previously it came under the processing method of incineration. It mainly concerns rest products from abattoirs and the meat processing industries, wood waste from the wood industry, and the rejects, de-inking and purification sludge from the paper industry.

Since 2000 the Statistic on Industrial Waste has used a wider definition of industrial waste. This is why products not considered as waste but sold as by-product are now included in reuse. This definition is in line with the definition used by the Ministry of Housing, Spatial Planning and the Environment.
