Description topics

Benefits National Insurance
Benefits under the Old Age Pension Act (AOW), the General Surviving Relatives Act (Anw) and the General Family Allowances Act (AKW)
Benefits AOW
The number of benefits under the Old Age Pension Act (AOW) not terminated at the end of the period under review (current benefits).

The AOW (Old Age Pensions Act) is a national insurance and entitles all residents at an advanced age (the AOW-age) to a (state)pension.
Until January 1st, 2013 the AOW-age was 65 years, but has been steadily increasing ever since.
Benefits Anw
The number of benefits under the General Surviving Relatives Act (Anw) not terminated at the end of the period under review (current benefits).

The ANW is a national insurance and regulates the entitlement to a benefit for surviving spouses or registerd partners and children who lost one or both parents.
Entitlement to an ANW-benefit only exists if the deceased person was insured for the ANW on the date of death.
Because of a law amendment as of July 1st, 2013 the entitlement to a benefit for children who lost one parent has been rescinded. Since then the surviving parent or partner with a child under the age of 18 is entitled to a higher benefit.
For children who lost one parent and already receive a benefit, the change was effectuated as of October 1st, 2013.

Persons entitled to AKW
The number of persons entitled to AKW under the General Family Allowances Act (AKW) not terminated at the end of the period under review (current benefits).

The AKW is a national insurance and provides financial support for insured persons who nurture children younger than 18 years.

Only quarterly figures are published. The annual average is calculated on the quarterly figures.
