Breakdown of residential construction times 2015 – 2nd quarter 2026

Breakdown of construction times of dwellings into the permit phase (building permit to construction started) and build time (construction started to completion), voor the Netherlands on a yearly and quarterly basis, and for provinces on a yearly basis from 2015 to the 2nd quarter of 2026.

The construction time of newly constructed dwellings – the time between the approved building permit and completion – is published from December 2025 in the Statline table Doorlooptijden nieuwbouw woningen en niet-woningen: regio, woningtype (Dutch only). The figures are based on the national Buildings and Addresses database. To gain further insight into construction times, here we divide the construction times into the permit phase (building permit to construction started) and the build time (construction started to completion).

Over the period 2015-2nd quarter 2026 an average of 25% of construction started registrations is missing from the BAG. The figures for the permit phase and build time are thus based on a smaller population than the total construction times.
