Time series modelling of mobility trends, 1999-2021

The Dutch Travel Survey is an annual sample survey used to compile statistics about mobility of residents of the Netherlands. This survey has undergone several redesigns.

In earlier reports, a multilevel time-series model has been developed to estimate mobility trends at a detailed level by person and journey characteristics, accounting for discontinuities due to redesigns. In this paper, the model is further improved and extended with data until 2021, as well as with effects of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020 and 2021 on mobility.
