Productivity in the Dutch Public Sector

A methodological study into the productivity of the Dutch public sector with calculations in two institutions: libraries and fire services

The calculation of the productivity for government is a complex challenge. Due to the lack of meaningful price information, direct observation of the output is the only feasible methodology. However, explaining output is not the only problem, as quality adjustments and aggregation issues also require careful considerations.

This research was carried out in cooperation with the University of Groningen.
