Step-by-step guide: Submitting a dataset to the CBS

Do you want to add external datasets to your CBS microdata project? All files must be submitted via the following step-by-step guide.
Step 1: Create a task
- Log in to the CBS microdata portal and go to the project where you want to add the file.
- In the right column, choose 'Add file' and select 'Upload / import file' as the file type.
- Explain your intention and why this file is needed to answer the research questions in your project (purpose) and who is performing the upload.
Note: Login codes are shared within the task after the task is created. These login codes can be reused. (However, you must create a new task for each upload.)
Step 2: Uploading files
- Log in to the upload channel and perform the upload. The upload must include a short description of the content of the file.
- If the file contains microdata, also include the following:
- An overview of all variables (record description), including a description of all variables
- A codebook
- A fully completed 'Upload information' form
After the upload is successfully completed, return to the task on the CBS microdata portal. Within the task, click on 'Files submitted'.
Step 3: Agreeing to the costs
After we have reviewed the submitted files, we will calculate the costs. These costs can be found in the "Amount" field. The viewing and approval of the costs can only be done by the project leader or a researcher +.
For imports (files without microdata) where the cost is 0 euros, approval is given automatically and no additional approval is required.
Step 4: Completion of upload/import
Finally, we will send a message that the files have been placed in the CBS microdata environment.
After you receive this message, check whether the file has been placed correctly and in the right location.
Good luck with the continuation of your research.
