Formal childcare
Formal childcare is defined as:
- day care for children aged between 0-3 years
- out-of-school care - both before and after school and during school holidays - for children in primary school
- care provided by parent-participation crèches or childminders through a childminder agency.
The Childcare Act (WKO) only applies to formal childcare that is registered with a municipality. Informal care is not covered by the WKO. School-aged children who require supervision during breaks are not covered by this law either.
