Income categories in housing policy
If residents are eligible for support in the form of housing benefit, allocation of a social housing unit, or a cap on the annual rent increase, this news article distinguishes between three policy-based income categories:
- Low income: incomes up to and including the ‘DAEB allocation threshold’. This group also includes those on (sub)minimum incomes, i.e. incomes up to 120 percent of the minimum threshold for housing policy and housing benefit. DAEB stands for Services of General Economic Interest.
- Middle income: incomes from the DAEB allocation threshold up to the high ‘IAH2 threshold’. IAH stands for income-related rent increase.
- High income: incomes from the high IAH2 threshold upwards.
