Level of digitalisation in companies

This is a composite score from Eurostat (the statistics bureau of the EU), which indicates how digitally advanced a company is. The score ranges from 0 to 12, depending on how many of the twelve selected digital technologies a company uses.

The higher the score, the more use the company makes of digital technologies:
• 0–3 = very low
• 4–6 = low
• 7–9 = high
• 10–12 = very high

In 2025, the digital intensity index consisted of the following twelve digital technologies:
1. Over 50 percent of employees have access to the internet for work purposes.
2. The maximum download speed of fastest fixed internet connection is 30 Mb/s or higher.
3. Online turnover represents at least 1 percent.
4. Online sales represent more than 1 percent of total turnover, and B2C (business-to-consumer) online sales represent more than 10 percent of online turnover.
5. Company uses paid cloud computing services.
6. Company uses paid advanced or intermediate cloud computing services.
7. Company has a website.
8. Company uses social media.
9. Data analysis is carried out by in-house staff or by an external service provider.
10. Company uses AI technology.
11. Company uses ERP (enterprise resource planning) software to share information between different departments.
12. Company uses customer relationship management (CRM) software.
