Turnover in accommodation and food services sector up by 3.2 percent in Q4

Turnover in the accommodation and food services sector was up by 3.2 percent in Q4 2025, year on year, reports Statistics Netherlands (CBS). Turnover in accommodation services grew by 0.5 percent and turnover in food and beverage outlets increased by 4.2 percent.
The publication of the figures for Q4 also means that the annual figure for 2025 as a whole is available. In 2025, the turnover of the accommodation and food services sector grew by 3.9 percent compared to 2024. Turnover in food and beverage outlets increased by 4.8 percent, turnover in accommodation services increased by 1.7 percent. Turnover growth in the accommodation and food services sector turnover was lower in 2025 than in 2024, when it was 5.0 percent.

Turnover in accommodation services increased by 0.5 percent
In Q4 2025, turnover in accommodation services, which includes hotels and holiday parks, increased by 0.5 percent, year on year. Hotel turnover was up by 2.3 percent on Q4 2024, while holiday rentals and camping sites recorded a decrease of 4.2 percent.
Turnover in food and beverage outlets 4.2 percent higher
The turnover of food and beverage outlets increased by 4.2 percent compared with Q4 2024.
Canteens and catering services recorded the largest increase in turnover in the accommodation and food services sector, at 6.2 percent. Fast-food outlets recorded an increase in turnover of 4.7 percent. Restaurants saw their turnover grow by 3.7 percent. For cafés, turnover was up by 2.6 percent on Q4 2024.

Entrepreneurs in the accommodation and food services sector more negative in Q1
Almost four weeks ago, Statistics Netherlands published new data on business confidence in the Dutch private sector in Q1 2026. Business confidence was less negative than it was in Q4 2025. In the accommodation and food services sector, however, confidence deteriorated.
Business confidence in the accommodation and food services sector fell from -8.4 at the beginning of Q4 2025 to -12.0 in Q1 2026. Businesses in this sector were less negative about the economic outlook for the next three months, in particular.
