Retail turnover up by 3 percent in December
The figures for retail turnover have been adjusted for calendar days in December, because more is sold on certain days of the week than on other days. Without such an adjustment, retail turnover in December 2025 would have been 4.5 percent higher than the previous year.

Turnover in non-food sector up by almost 2 percent
Turnover in the non-food sector was up by 1.9 percent in December, year on year. Sales volume (turnover adjusted for price changes) was up by 1.4 percent on December 2024.
Turnover among chemists and shops selling recreational goods grew by over 2 percent year on year in December. Clothes shops and shops selling consumer electronics and white goods also saw year-on-year turnover growth. However, turnover among shops selling DIY products (including kitchens and flooring) was down slightly (-0.3 percent). Shops selling home furnishings and those selling footwear and leather products also saw a decrease in turnover, by 0.7 and 1.3 percent, respectively.
Turnover in food sector up by 5 percent
Turnover in shops selling food, beverages and tobacco was up by 5.0 percent in December, year on year. Sales volume was 1.9 percent higher. Turnover in supermarkets was up by over 6 percent, while turnover in specialty shops was down by 1.1 percent.

Online turnover over 4 percent higher
Turnover among online retailers was up by 4.3 percent in December, year on year. Online retailers (whose core activity is selling goods and services over the internet) recorded an increase in turnover of 5.5 percent. Online turnover among multi-channel retailers (retailers selling goods and services over the internet as a secondary activity) was up by 2.6 percent.
Online turnover for food and personal care products was up by almost 10 percent year on year. Online turnover for other non-food products and consumer electronics was also higher in December 2025. Online turnover for clothing and fashion items was down by 2.0 percent year on year.

Retail turnover 3.6 percent higher in 2025
In 2025, retail turnover, adjusted for shopping days, was 3.6 percent higher than one year previously. Sales volume was up by 1.6 percent on 2024. Non-food shops achieved 3.6 percent growth in 2025, turnover among food shops was 3.4 percent higher.
Online turnover was 5.2 percent higher than it was in 2024. Online retailers recorded an increase in turnover of 7.4 percent. Meanwhile, multi-channel retailers saw turnover in their online sales rise by 1.9 percent.
