Long-life products grown specifically for feed purposes that have undergone no or some simple processing. Roughage has a relatively low nutrient content per unit of weight. It is used for cattle, horses and sheep. Examples of roughage include maize, silage maize, hay, and silage and pasture grass. Roughage is stored in bales, silos and pits.
