Turnover in accommodation services increased by 4.5 percent
In Q2 2025, turnover in accommodation services, which includes hotels and holiday parks, increased by 4.5 percent year on year. Hotel turnover was up by 4 percent on Q2 2024, while holiday rentals and camping sites recorded an increase of 6 percent.
Turnover in food and beverage outlets almost 6 percent higher
The turnover of food and beverage outlets increased by 5.9 percent compared with Q2 2024. Fast-food outlets recorded the largest increase in turnover in the accommodation and food services sector, at 6.4 percent. Restaurants saw their turnover grow by 6.3 percent. Canteens and catering recorded an increase in turnover of 4.6 percent. For cafés, turnover was up by 5.2 percent.

Entrepreneurs in the accommodation and food services sector slightly more negative
Almost four weeks ago, Statistics Netherlands published new data on business confidence in the Dutch private sector in Q3 2025. Business confidence was less negative than in the previous two quarters. However, confidence in the accommodation and food services sector slightly deteriorated. With the exception of entrepreneurs in agriculture, forestry and fishing, entrepreneurs in the accommodation and food services sector were the most negative of any Dutch entrepreneur.
Business confidence in the accommodation and food services sector fell from -12.3 at the beginning of Q2 2025 to -13.2 in Q3 2025. Businesses in this sector were more negative about both economic conditions over the past three months and the economic outlook for the next three months.
