Adjusted

Research by Statistics Netherlands (CBS) shows that more than half of the difference in average hourly wages between men and women can be explained by a number of objective factors, such as age, level of education, full-time/part-time employment, type of employee and whether or not they hold a managerial position. Not all data for 2024 was available to compile the adjusted figures for differences in wages. The adjusted figures are expected to be available by the end of this year.

Incidentally, that biennial survey differs in several respects from the figures in the Employment and Earnings Statistics (SWL) reported in this news release:
- the monitor excludes a number of special occupational groups, which together account for one in five jobs done by employees;
- when calculating the average hourly wage in the Monitor, each job is weighted equally, unlike in the SWL, where each working hour worked is weighted equally;
- the Monitor is published only for the business community and public sector, while the SWL also provides figures for the total.
