Number of people receiving long-term care (based on the Long-Term Care Act (WLZ)

Long-term care, based on the Long-Term Care Act, is for people who need to be close to care around the clock and/or who require permanent supervision. Broadly speaking, this care can be provided in two ways:

1. Care in a residential facility
- nursing home or care home
- disabled care facility
- mental care facility

2. Domiciliary care (funded by means of a personal budget, or a modular package or comprehensive domiciliary care package)

Information on people in long-term care comes from the Central Administration Office (CAK), which is recorded in order to determine the statutory personal contribution for long-term care for those aged 18 and older.

Mortality data on people receiving long-term care based on the WLZ are combined with data on mortality from the official Register of Persons.
