The survey considered the highest attained education level of the parent/caretaker. In the case of two parents/caretakers, the highest attained education level was considered. For the sake of readability, this news release uses 'parents' instead of ‘parents/caretakers'.
A lower education level includes primary education, prevocational secondary education (VMBO), the first three years of senior general secondary education (HAVO)/pre-university education (VWO) and entry-level secondary vocational education (MBO-1).
Intermediate education includes upper secondary education (HAVO/VWO), basic vocational training (MBO-2), vocational training (MBO-3), and middle management and specialist education (MBO-4).
A high education level includes higher vocational education (HBO) and university education (WO).
