The scope of agricultural goods trade is a matter of definitions. Together with CBS and the Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality (LNV), Wageningen Economic Research has determined which categories of goods fall under the definition of agricultural goods. The list was compiled as much as possible in accordance with definitions which are also applied by the European Commission (EC) in international comparisons. Agricultural goods trade as described in this publication comprises the first 24 categories of goods classified in international trade statististics, plus a number of agricultural goods from other categories based on the Combined Nomenclature (CN) classification system.
