Consumer confidence improves further

According to Statistics Netherlands (CBS), consumer confidence has improved again in July. The consumer confidence indicator stands at 2, up from 0 in June. Opinions on the economic climate are improving in particular.

At 2, the consumer confidence indicator in July stands above its long-term average over the past two decades (-4). The indicator reached an all-time high in January 2000 (36) and an all-time low in March 2013 (-41).

More positive about economic climate, willingness to buy less negative

The component indicator on Economic climate has improved: from 2 in June to 6 in July. In July, consumers are considerably less negative about the economic climate in the coming twelve months and their outlook for the past twelve months is more positive.

Consumers’ willingness to buy improved from -2 in June to -1 in July. Opinions on their financial situation in the past as well as coming twelve months are improving slightly and they also find the time more favourable to make large purchases.
