Measure to reduce phosphate production in pig farming, 2017
This measure introduces financial compensation to pig farmers who voluntarily purchase compound feed which is low in phosphorus. The amount of financial compensation is based on the extra expense for these compound feeds. The sector parties are bound to a best-effort obligation to realise phosphate reduction in pig farming to a maximum of 1 million kg. The targeted reduction contributes to the set of measures which are aimed at reducing phosphate production in the Netherlands to the level defined as permissible under the Nitrates Directive derogation decree.
