Education level

Education level refers to the highest education level an individual has attained.
Lower educated people are defined as people, whose highest level of education is primary education, lower secondary vocational education (vmbo), secondary vocational education (mbo) level 1 or general secondary education (avo) lower level. Higher educated refers to people, whose highest level of education is higher general secondary education (havo),  pre-university education (vwo), mbo level 2, 3, 4, higher vocational education (hbo) or university (wo).
Because children, young people and young adults are often still engaged in education or training programmes, it is difficult to establish their education level. Therefore, this analysis only includes individuals aged 25 years or older.
