Care allowance

The health care insurance act came into effect in 2006. This new system of health care insurance resulted in considerable premium rises for a number of income groups. Households below a certain income threshold are eligible for the care allowance, so that they do not have to pay an inordinately large share of their income on care-related costs. In this way the government aims to make care affordable for the entire population.
