Quarterly figures can be converted to annual figures by adding up the last four quarters. Quarterly figures are thus adjusted for seasonal variation and recent quarterly data can be compared to annual results. For the second quarter of 2013, the third and fourth quarter of 2012 and the first and second quarter of 2013 must be added up. For the fourth quarter, the moving annual total is exactly the same as the figure over the whole calendar year.
