Divorced parents

Parents who were living at the same address in the year their child was born, but who - according to the municipal population registers (GBA) - were no longer living at the same address at the time the final Cito test was held. The data are based on the Social Statistical Database compiled by Statistics Netherlands. The survey group included more than 128 thousand pupils from school year 2010/’11 who were subjected to Cito’s final test primary education; 16 percent came from divorced families. Nine in ten children from divorced parents are living with their mothers, with or without the mother’s new partner (stepfather). The rest were living with the father, with or without a stepmother. Children who at (regular) intervals live with their mother and father (co-partnership) are registered in the GBA as living with only one of the parents, so co-partnership is not separately distinguished in this survey.
