Inflation stable at 2.1 percent

  • Fresh vegetables and holidays have upward effect on inflation
  • Airline tickets have downward effect on inflation
  • Eurozone inflation rate stable

According to the latest figures released by Statistics Netherlands, inflation remained stable in June. Just as in May, consumer prices were on average 2.1 percent up from one year previously.

Prices of fresh vegetables and package tours abroad were respectively 2.2 and 5.8 percent higher in June than in June 2011. 

Airline ticket prices, on the other hand, had a downward effect on inflation. They fell by 5.2 percent relative to June last year. On balance, the inflation rate in the Netherlands remained stable at 2.1 percent.

The Dutch inflation rate calculated according to the European harmonised method (HICP) remained stable at 2.5 percent. The eurozone inflation rate also remained stable at 2.4 percent.
