Lifelong learning

The European Union has the ambition to become the world’s most competitive and dynamic knowledge-based economy. The concept of lifelong learning is an important tool. The European Lifelong Learning indicator was created to monitor participation in education on the European level. Lifelong learning is defined as the percentage in the population in the age category 25–65 attending some form of education in a particular year. The data are based upon the Labour Force Survey (Dutch: EBB). The percentage includes all forms of short-term and long-teem education monitored by the EBB in that particular year.
